We’ve endured enough speculation about the replacement for James Bond since actor Daniel Craig’s swansong as the iconic British character in No Time To Die.

The guesswork has included names like Idris Elba, Robert Pattinson and Tom Hardy, who have surfaced and sunk as the next best 007. Meanwhile, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have kept their intel on a strictly need-to-know basis.

Naturally, okes have been having fun placing bets on the next James Bond, with more theories being thrown around than the whereabouts of Kate Middleton. Finally, it appears as though one actor has been granted the coveted licence to kill.

After a successful screen test with producers, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been formally offered the role of James Bond, beating the likes of Henry Cavill and Damson Idris to the role.

The British actor got his big break when he starred in Matthew Vaughn’s superhero film Kick-Ass, having since starred in various Marvel Cinematic Universe roles while also acting alongside Hollywood royalty, such as Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling, per DMARGE.

At 33, Aaron Taylor-Johnson fits the profile of the younger James Bond and will have no problem committing the next 10-15 years for this iconic role in British cinema. It’s even been suggested that he’s filmed the signature Bond ‘turn and shoot’ from the films’ opening credits.

The dude has some stunts up his sleeve, that’s for sure:

As well as that oozing sex appeal:

Apparently Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy almost bagged the Bond role after his showstopping performance in the 2023 release of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, but it was decided that the Irish star was too old for the desired profile of the new notorious spy.

Taylor-Johnson is set to step into the spotlight in the upcoming MCU superhero spectacle Kraven the Hunter, about a Russian hunter determined to vanquish Spider-Man and establish himself as the best hunter in the world.

This venture is poised to become one of Sony Pictures’ most significant film series since…you guessed it, the iconic James Bond franchise.
