New Senate Strategy to Pass Cannabis Reform

The Senate Democrats that are pushing for marijuana legalization are not certain it will get done. Unfortunately, not all Democrats are on board with the effort. For canabis legalization to occur, they will need to prevent a filibuster by getting 60 votes and at least 10 of them from Republicans (more if some Democrats reject the bill).

To circumvent this, a bill to allow cannabis federally can be added to budget reform bills as an amendment instead. The problem with this is that it can be struck down by Senate Republicans who oppose it as an amendment to financial bills.

New Study Suggests CBD Pain Relief is Placebo

As frequently discussed on this website, CBD has essentially no effect in the endocannabinoid system of the body. It does not bind cannabis receptors so it has no physiological value.

Many people claim that CBD can help with pain, but a recent study at the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center at the University of Michigan has shown that CBD-related pain relief is a placebo effect – meaning all in your mind.

The study was small but sheds light on the fact that CBD is most likely a psychological phenomenon more than a real medicine.
